So Wonder Park came out two weeks ago and I took the little princess to see it on opening day. It’s been a while since we’ve been on a movie date. Life has become a bit busier with the arrival of our little prince. I am back at work which means three hours of my day is spent commuting back and forth to the city. Regardless of how crazy things have been, I wanted to carve out some time for just us. Wonder Park created the perfect opportunity.
I love animations and after watching the trailer, I figured it was worth seeing. I left work early and picked up my princess. Then, we were off to the theatre. Of course when we got there, I had to get some popcorn before we went in or she would be an unhappy camper. I’m not a fan of popcorn, but hey it makes her happy. After what seemed like never ending previews, the movie finally started.
So, how was the movie?
? In my opinion, it was a cool movie with a great lesson which is always a major win for me. That being said, it is not the most exciting of movies. I’m a big animation fan. You’ll find our family watching Happy Feet, Madagascar, Despicable Me, Frozen, Lion King, etc. We love animations in the David household.
To be honest, sometimes you’ll catch me watching animated movies even when I am home alone. (Shhhhh! Don’t tell anyone!)
Wonder Park has great graphics, a cute story line and a positive lesson. However, there were some parts where my little munchkin nearly fell asleep. The exciting moments I expected to see, based on the trailer, were lacking. However, there were some funny moments that had me hollering ?. That porcupine is something else!
The message to allow our kids to use their imaginations in a positive manner is one that I truly support. While sometimes what they imagine may seem odd to us, what they will achieve if we allow them some room to explore may one day surprise us. The movie does a great job of showing what happens if we speak things into existence.
I truly believe if more effort was placed on adding the thrill factor of an amusement park into a movie about an amusement park, this one could have been a winner.
Is it worth seeing Wonder Park?
Why not? It is a good Family movie. Just set your expectations and be prepared for a feel-good okay movie.
On a scale from 1 – 10, how would you rate it?
I’d give it a 7 out of 10. It’s not exhilarating. There’s no real wow factor to it, but it will make the kiddos happy.
P.S. – When we were done, we treated ourselves with some ice cream from Coldstone Creamery. YUM!
Us showing daddy how much fun he is missing out on ???
