Mother’s Day 2020 is closely approaching and true to form most kids and dads will be scrambling for ideas the day before. Although hubby and the kids always tend to bring a smile on my face every mother’s day, this mother’s day is special and I want to be pampered. WHY?
Well, I think moms everywhere deserve a little extra this mother’s day. We have taken on additional roles since this quarantine and it has not been easy. We have become chefs serving up breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. We have become teachers, sport coaches, and more. You name it. We’re doing it.
So this mother’s day, I want to be pampered. Luckily for my kids, pampering me won’t break the bank Just the other day I asked my husband out of the blue, “babe, you know what I want for mother’s day?” He replied, huh? You see I almost never tell him what I want. I just let them surprise me. But, this time, I told him – “I want to SLEEP“
Sounds funny to you, but I just want to be able to stay in bed and sleep without any little munchkins kicking me or waking me up at the crack of dawn. The back pains I have been experiencing lately are partly due to the number of kicks I get in the middle of the night. The other part is due to my being home more often than usual.
Since I know some kids are still trying to figure out what to do for their super moms this weekend. I have compiled a list of 5 inexpensive ways kids can pamper their moms this mother’s day.
Let us stay in bed!
Attention all children, please do for yourselves on mother’s day and let mothers everywhere stay in bed. Stay in bed means please do not wake us up if we’re still sleeping and if we are awake do not come in and ask us for anything. Let us enjoy our beds. Hand us the remote and let us watch our shows in peace.
Breakfast in bed is always welcome!
Today is Tuesday. You have plenty of time to search on Pinterest or Food Network for some new breakfast recipes. As a matter of fact, I have already included some links for you here. You’re welcome! Pick something different and surprise us with breakfast in bed while we stay in bed. No, you cannot have some. No, you cannot sit in bed with us. lol! Just let us enjoy and savor our meal.
Run us a bubble bath and light some candles!
Believe it or not, we have been hiding from you in the bathroom anyway so you might as pamper us in there. Run some water, add our favorite bath soap, play some soothing music or our favorite jams, and have daddy light some candles right before we walk in. You will not believe how much we will appreciate this time. By the way, make sure you all use the bathroom before you take us in there. We are not opening the door for you once we find our zen. Bye Felicia!
Hire Dad to be a Masseuse!
Listen, the way our backs have been hurting. Moms need a massage after that bath. Since those little hands won’t be able to have the effect we need, Hire your dad to be a masseuse for mom on mother’s day. Make sure dad hits all those sore muscles. We want the works. Trust me, if Dad does this right, mom may be happy for days 😉
P.S. – I must add here that I do get a massage from hubby on a regular basis. Inserting this disclaimer or my husband would be going in on the comments.
End the day with Dinner and some fun
I know I sound like we want to be left alone on mother’s day, but we do want to spend some time with our babies. Just make sure this time starts off with some amazing dinner. It means so much to us that everyone gets involved in the cooking of our special mother’s day meal. Maybe we have a favorite dish that you can whip up or you can also pull all the stops and chef up a 3-course meal from scratch.
Then, when all is said and done. We actually do want to share some laughs and spend some time with our families. Believe it or not, we love our families. Plan a game night, movie night, or any fun activity that we can do together. It will put a smile on our faces and remind us why we love being mothers.
I have always asked for little for mother’s day because honestly, it is not about the gifts. It is about the thought that goes into it. I still smile when my daughter hands me a card that she made for me or a craft that she and her Sunday School class made. The saying it is the thought that counts really does apply here. However, we want to know that some thought actually went into it.
I am looking forward to this mother’s day. The kids and hubby always come up with the sweetest ideas and I can hear my daughter giggling as she proudly approaches my bedroom door every mother’s day with what she and her dad whipped up for me.
I hope every mom out there will have an awesome mommy day this Sunday. Remember, it’s not about the gifts, it’s about the love that went into it.
To all the mommies doing it daily without skipping a beat, Happy Mother’s Day!
